| Fish species - help needed please. Hi all, Went fishing on Eastbourne pier today and caught a species that I have never seen before (mind I am still a newbie lol). It was about 5 - 6 inches dark brown in colour, and then it had like white wings (no I am not drunk lol) and also white fins, but like, hm finding a way to describe it, needles or coctail sticks. I don't know if I am making any sense here, but I have never seen it before. Unfortunately, by the time I caught it, I was the only one fishing there. Any of you guys know the species ? | Re: Fish species - help needed please. I was definitely thinking some sort of gurnard, or as we call them over here, sea robin. I don't know the different species though. __________________ 2012 species: 13 All-time species: 65 New species caught in 2012: white sucker, popeye shiner, white shiner |

| Re: Fish species - help needed please. Hi all, Thanks for all the replies. After googeling Dragonet, that came very close, so I had a look on Google images, and I can now say it was this one. Is this a dragonet or is it something different?? ![]() Shame I did not have my mobile handy to take a picture lol. There was also a quite a few starfish being caught, but it was mainly little plaice and whiting that was being hooked yesterday on Eastbourne pier. | Re: Fish species - help needed please. lol I was packing up and my second rod was still out, when I reeled it in I saw this "thing" hanging on the hook. It must like mussels I reckon as that was the bait. I did put a glove on before I got it of the hook tho, never know huh lol __________________ The difference between knowledge and skill is practice.
