Surprise is on a distinguished road
Fishing in Dover?

Hi everybody!

I'm new here. I'm from Belgium, and I know squat about fishing.
However, I would love to surprise my boyfriend (who LOVES seafishing) with a small trip for his birthday.
To make things fun for me too, I want to take him to the UK, 'cause I've been dying to go for years now.

So why am I here... I would take the boat to Dover, I already found out that it is possible to fish there, but it's a bit complicated... So could somebody explain to me what we need to do to be able to fish without breaking any laws? :)
And secondly, I would take my car, but he can't drive, and I've never driven a car on the left side of the road before. So if possible I would like to avoid having to drive long distances...
Any recommendations for a B&B or a cozy hotel close to the port where the ferry arrives are more than welcome!

I really wish someone here can help me out, 'cause I want this trip to be great!

Best regards,
Surprise

Re: Fishing in Dover?

Hi There Suprise.
The admiralty pier is probably the best place to head for the fishing. Just a few rounderbouts to negotiate to get there! Google maps shows the way.
I would recommend the premier inn on Dover sefront. reasonable rooms at a reasonable price, probably about £50-60 per night though. There are cheaper bed and breakfasts. I think the Cinqe Ports pup has rooms and is a short walk from the admiralty pier and you won't have to pay for parking as you can leave the car outside the pub.
If you fish the admiralty pier its £6 per rod per day.
If you dont have all the fishing gear you can jump on a charter boat for about £40 per day and they supply all the gear and bait. There are a few you could try, the royal charlotte, reecer, louise jane and the jolley fisherman to name a few, they can easily be found on the net.

Re: Fishing in Dover?

Thanks a bunch for the quick reply, that information gets me started already! I'm going to check it all out tomorrow. Now that I know that it is possible, I can make the boyfriend ask for a day of at work
