Re: Using crimps It's interesting that you ask that, Pike Pirate. I've no idea whether he is a shop owner because I was fishing some way from my home. But I did notice that all his rigs were shop bought ones! Kind regards. __________________ Kissin' don't last! Fishin' do.

Re: Using crimps instead of a fixed crimp on the rig, i have just started using these for the snood clips, they can be moved up/down for differing hook line lengths: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-x-PACKET...item2a1600437e with the silicone protruding from each end, there can be very little contact of hook line to rim of crimp. __________________ good luck and tight lines chris lifes to short for animosity.

Re: Using crimps Yes, I'm on those too - Breakawy adjustable crimps. Got the tool and 20 crimps for 9 quid and another 50 crimps are cheap enough on breakaways site. I've been cutting the hook lengths off my trace after fishing then re-using the trace next time out but with new hook lengths and hooks, these make it possible to adjust the hook length for the bait clips.

Re: Using crimps I never use crimps anymore, i've found they weaken the line and once crimped into position you can't move them. I remember once losing a cracking Cod on the beach when my line broke at the crimp ![]() Try using power gum and tie stop knots which don't weaken trace bodies and can be moved if need be. It only takes about 20 seconds longer than crimping so it's no hasle. __________________ One day i will post a catch report again.

Re: Using crimps Never use crimps either i find telephone wire does the job just fine and can be moved if needed then twisted tight again very quickly and best of all it's free. __________________ Steve 2012 Species:Bass,Huss,SS Sea Scorpion,3B/Shore Rockling,Launce,Mackerel,Sand Goby,Sand Smelt,Pollack, Coalie,Conger
