went to the go fishing show

well i went to the go fishing show today
good trip up , coffee and off i go into the melee
pretty busy there but guess sat and sun going too be worse
after ambling arround some of the stalls went to the sea angling area and watched a demo by Alan Yates and Steve Allmark on rigs for match fishing

then after another by Paul Kerry on bait presentation
then off again and met Black Beard on the penn stand , mentioned i was from forum, he didnt remember me (suprise suprise) but the mention of "Old Smoothy " reminded him of which forum
(taken here with Mel Russ the editor of sea angler mag)

then a quick trip around the freshwater area where met John Wilson

and Bob Nudd

then anotherwalk about , won a teeshirt and huge pike spinner also got a few lures and bits , resisted new rods etc
leaving the show you go past miles of poles and carp gear (and if the missus says my bait stinks again she can go too the carp village that was a bit potent!!!!!!!!)
then saw this great machine called "the Terminator" which tests Diawa rods
they tried to destroy a team diawa shore rod, the picture shows the rod having a pull off 27kg on it!!!! but still didnt break!!!!!!!!!

then went outside and watched this casting instructor pendulum casting a 5oz weight way over the horizon , showing no effort at all !!!!l
then head home and just about too crack a beer
all in all a good day
dave
ps sorry about state of photos as forgot real camera and only had phone

Have never heard positive remarks about these shows before, always say they're overpriced??

I've been told parking and the tickets are very overpriced and the gear isn't any cheaper apparently, never been myself though, so can't comment

Re: went to the go fishing show

well it was a tenner to get in and £7 parking which would have been better had i shared the car
there were some bargains there just didnt have enough cash flow yesterday
have some good ideas for rigs, new fishing ideas from show and stands that i want too get out and try!!!!!
there was a fair proportioin for sea fishing this year but still way overshadowed by carping and pole fishing
but i found it worth it

Re: went to the go fishing show

The shows here are usually the whole summer thing. The big one is the "Omaha boats, sports&travel show". Everything is on display, boats large and small,(we even have a sail boat dealer right here in the middle of the states, no place to sail them but we can get'em) motor homes and campers, and lots and lots of resorts and guide services(U.S.,Canada,Mexico mostly)and ATV's, and motorized toys. All lots of fun if you've got the scratch.
I had to skip it this year, because they just want way too much money to come look at stuff they want to sell. Try converting to $'s, I nearly cr@pped my drawers. WOW.
OB,S&TS was $6.00 to park, and $9.00 entrance. Come on now folks, parking should be free or some-one watching your car if you have to pay. And the entrance fee should only be a couple bucks(to keep out the bums, not $15.00 to keep everyone out!) I still wanted to go, oh well.
