Re: looking for multiplyer for casting any ideas?

I know what I wouldn't buy......

Before we can give you suggestions....what is your budget? What type of ground do you fish? And what will it be primarily used to Target?

That way you may also get some other suitable reels suggested as well as the info on the akios

Sl20sh for rock work. 7ht for clean ground. personally if i was mainly bassing i would stick to a decent fixed spool set up.

Re: looking for multiplyer for casting any ideas?

Hi the akios reels are getting good reviews and reports from people using them...although there is a bit of confusion whether they are re-badged abu's with different components.

the only one i would consider is the S-line 656 CTM (incidently spotty dog are selling them for £101).....supposed to be good casting reels...have magnetic breaks which are a plus as they can be adjusted during a session to suit condition ( strong in yer face winds)

7HT has been mentioned too which is another good real with atrack record for being easy to use...almost placid........has centrifugal brakes so not really adjustable during a session....but shouldn't need to.

both these reels are good for clean ground and can be used for the occasional forays into the rough but i wouldn't use either for that regularly...only downside iMO is the retrieve which is 5.2:1 (roughly)

another reel that may be right up your street is the penn 515 and 525 mag2..both great casters with a proven track record. mags are easily adjustable and they are placid too if you don't reduce the mags below 4. Good retrieve of 6:1 and built to take a bit more abuse so will handle being used in the rough much more.

I see from your other thread that you mention you have small hands...in that case i would steer away from the SLOSH or abu 7000's they will be a bit too high off the rod and the 7000 isn't in the same ball park for casting which is what you've stated you want it for in your title.

nothing wrong with going for a fixed spool for bassing....a lot of bass anglers are going this way now.

john
