Hand warmers for winter fishing.

Has anyone tried the 'Little Hotties' hand warmers? These are 'use once and throw them away'. The ones I use at present have the small metal disc that floats in the gel and which you have to 'bend' to get the reaction started. They say that these can be 'recharged' up to 100 times but my experience of these is disapponting. Once they've been used for the first time, they never perform very well when reboiled. That's my experience anyway. So, I just wondered if the 'use once' type are worth a go. Kind regards.

Re: Hand warmers for winter fishing.

Thanks for your suggestion Bill. The sales literature says that the burner needs to be renewed periodically but it doesn't say how often. Do you have one of these yourself Bill, and if so have you had to renew the burner? Kind regards. John R.

Re: Hand warmers for winter fishing.

John I have had one for the past two years and am still using the original burner,it produces a fantastic amount of heat, indeed it is so hot you have to keep it in it's cloth pouch or you'll burn yourself it is an essential bit of kit for winter fishing, one filling of fuel (lighter petrol) will keep it going for up to 16 hours or more.

Re: Hand warmers for winter fishing.

Looks like a fab bit of kit !! ,Good range of size options , made in japan too ,so unlikely to go wrong . The 22ct gold one looks very nice ( essential piece of kit for a tackle tart !!!)

Re: Hand warmers for winter fishing.

does anyone remember the solid fuel hand warmers we used years ago ?

i believe they faded out when it was suggested in sea angler or a similar publication that the fumes from the warmer was transferred from your hands and onto the bait,

it wasn't a chance i was prepared to take

Re: Hand warmers for winter fishing.

it was a stick of something like charcoal which you lit and when it was smouldering you put it in a sealed case and then into a pouch,
i believe the brand name was " HOT "

does anyone remember them ?

Re: Hand warmers for winter fishing.

I wonder if this is the same thing but in a different colour? If it is, it's a lot cheaper!
