Re: Sandeels

I dont know if this will help you, but there are a few methods of catching live sandeel. The main method would be to have a little net and tow it in a boat and back into shore, but this is a bit of a hassle. The greater sandeel or launce can be caught on small hokkai feathers but it is not guaranteed. The other method which ive seen used a lot, is to dig for sandeels. If you have any sand banks that uncover at low water, it would be ideal, all you have to do is dig with a fork until you find them. i would say it is like digging for worm, but im not too sure because ive never caught a sandeel from shore. ive seen shoals of sandeels come in between my legs but trying to catch them in a landing net is near on impossible, well too fast for me at least. The sandeels should be coming around from anytime now. i hope this could be of any help, but i wish you good luck in trying to catch them, as you will need it!!
