| Re: bling Hi Chris, I have yet to be convinced that beads improve one's chances of catching. Some time back I made up LOTS of two hook flappers; each rig had beads on one hook length and the other was left bare. I suppose I probably fished with these on 20 odd outings, but never found the beaded hooks to be any more productive that the unbeaded ones. As to bead colours; I used red, blue, yellow, green and brown-sometimes I put 3 or 4 beads of the same colour on a snood. At other times I put a mixture of colours, 3 beads, 4, 5, 6, up to 12 beads at a time. I tried to make as many variations as possible to see if there was a link between the types and number of beads and their success rate. I even kept a written record of the results after each outing. In the end I concluded that beads made almost no noticeable difference at all. If any of the bead colours was attracting more fish, it was the brown ones! Most probably just a coincidence as I always fish in 'murky' water where the brown beads would hardly show up. Flatties were no more interested than other species. Maybe other members have a different experience? I'd be interested to know. In the meantime, my kindest regards. John R. __________________ Kissin' don't last! Fishin' do. |

| Re: bling thanks john interesting answer, probably more to come, looking foward to the responses, whether they are clipped tight to each other or left to slide on the snood, whether sequins help. __________________ good luck and tight lines chris lifes to short for animosity. |

| Re: bling As is a well known fact, I'm no pro.. ![]() But have taken to adding a few Glow-in-Dark beads to some of my snoods. Quick blast with the headtorch, and you get a pretty light show before you cast.... and hopefully they'll still be going when they splashdown. Have used a few non-GiD's as well, but they are more along the lines of some hope that it may raise/float the bait enough to stop crabs. Probably would need a lot more beads to get the bait of the bottom, but it's the thought that counts. 95% of my snood beads are free running, just get tucked down to bait before cast. Only variation would be on my 'Live bait' Pennel rig, again probably more for my own mind than fish catching sucess, where I have a few GiD's 'topped' off with a double looped big bead so it can be kept in place. In my mind at least, it may give the impression of the bait feeding on a nice glowing worm..... so big fish can get 2 meals for the price of 1. ![]() Can't honestly say with or without has more results..... But at least gives another view/idea... no matter how deluded! ![]() __________________ -- Bart Rank : Rod Rattling Rookie! Bait Bung'ing Beginner!
