Plymouth Breakwater

I used to captain our ships angling team when I used to be in the Royal Navy way back in the late 1970s. Each year we used to compete in a large sea match with teams from all over the UK representing their ships and shore-bases. These team opens were fished annually on the ‘Plymouth Breakwater’ and we always caught plenty of fish there (Mullet, Wrasse, Conger etc).

I know there are still organised open matches fished there but I was wondering if ‘anyone’ outside of these matches can fish the Breakwater nowerdays? (who is not fishing on a match day) and if so would they need to get permission from anyone? or could they just take a boat to and from there when they wanted to fish it? or is it strictly controlled & private?

I would be gratefull for any info about this.

Thanks

Keith (BoldBear)

Re: Plymouth Breakwater

Plymouth Castaways SAC run the comps there and that is the only time it can be fished. Contact Graham Tippet, some threads on WSF earlier this year with contact details.
Hope this helps

Yep checked up on that and your right enough Chopper. Myself and a mate purchased tickets for a comp earlier this year and were informed by the organising body that these comps were the only time it can be fished.
I decided not to do the round trip to Plymouth as the forecast was looking a bit iffy and i,m glad i never as there wasnt much caught that day.
Looking at the conditions attached to get permission i think i would rather just use the boat required to stand by for a days fishing lol

Re: Plymouth Breakwater

OK Thanks Guys.

A friend of mine at work asked me about fishing the Breakwater so I said I would ask on here. I forgot about the post back in March last year.

Thanks again.
