My wonderful Tackle shop Owner "Shimano"

Took my Shimano ax spinning Rod to my Local tackle shop today, Basically for advice with regards to repair or replacement.
one of the rod guides had split open, (stainless steel ring the supports the inner ceramic guide).
It looks like a fault to me, but his suggestion was that I had possibly crushed it, However the inner piece would have surely have gone too, cracked.
Anyway, I wasn't in the mood to put a case study forward, so I asked if the guide could be repaired as this was the place where I had purchased the Rod.

The reply.."Well mate, I would aradite it, if you put a bit around the rod ring it will be fine honestly," I replied, "well how much would it be for a new guide?"
"Well mate, its a bit tricky mate, my man can do it, but some rod guides are now constructed as part of the rod and done on a machine, its tricky see," Still didn't get to how much it was gonna cost bit.
On turning my back to him, he said, "I can do it mate, I have some aradite if you want?"
I retorted its ok mate, I'll be back to buy a new one, they were only just over a hundred quid!! (like I will be back soon).
So Shimano, this is how your agents repair your rod guides, don't offer a backup service, where it could be sent back to your factory for repair.
Bring Back the good old days...Jack Ball, Ted Holgate!!! Proper Service, from Proper tackle shop owners!!!

Cheers , I will, shame really, but little does he know I spend alot of money with him, he's normally not there because he's quite a keen fisherman too at weekends.

Hi Mate, I know how you feel, the days seem to have gone when you used to return something and they just basically said" well heres another, try and break this one!"
I will never forget my old tackle dealer Ted Holgate under the arches at Brighton, I bought a ugly stick spinning rod for the boat, tiny little thing but great little rod, I also used it for Bream using an ounce weight, I caught the rod on the gunnels of the boat and snapped the end.
I returned to Ted and he just gave me another, I still have that rod, that was nearly 25yrs ago.
He said, no thats ok, lifetime guarantee, I even explained it may have been my fault.
No butts, no life time guarantee, if you bring another one back, might look a bit suspicious!!!!
My gripe is no customer service, if he could not support me then, pass me to the chap that can, but no offer at all, terrible service.
I think possibly the main problem is, everything is made in bloody china!!

They have tonnes of rods there too ,or at least they did last time i was there ,i`m pretty sure they will be able to help you.........

Yep got to send the rod onto them, replied to me this morning, how fast is that????

Result !!!!! Shimano`s customer service in Velindra is very good ,shame some of the tackle shops dont operate on the same level ,but that people for you
