Its a cracking idea , you`ll see people scouring the beaches at the thought of free bait ,hopefully all Ammo dealers will take part .

Heres the text ....

As we all know everyone is becoming far more aware of environmental issues and malpractices which threaten to destroy our wildlife and surroundings. Ammo has always supported Sustainable Fishing, Catch & Release, Clean Beaches, Marine Conservation and Recycling – but feel we all need to be even more pro-active and we are now launching a new initiative to promote these values:

No-one wants a rubbish catch – but if we don’t work together to keep our beaches clean and our seas free from plastics and pollutants – then rubbish may be all there is to catch! Introducing our new campaign-

Ammo Eco-Angling

Only keep what you can eat – “Have it for Tea or Set it Free”

Help Protect Our World – Take All your Litter Home!

Our first project under this scheme will be a joint venture with all our ‘eco-friendly’ Ammo stockists – to work together to try and reduce the amount of litter left behind by Anglers. It takes many small steps to resolve a big problem – and we feel that the best way to get Anglers to take their litter home would be to offer a reward!

All participating Tackle Shops would sign up to provide 1 FREE Bag of Ammo Bait for every 20 clean empty Ammo packets returned to them!

We are currently in the process of contacting all our stockists and getting them on board, so let us – and them! - know what you think!!

Good for You- Good for the Fish – Good for the Environment & Good for Our Future!

Products must be Ammo branded – squid boxes will not be accepted. Free bait is at the Tackle Shop’s discretion, though we advise this to be the same as the majority returned

Re: ammo help reduce rubbish

the easiest way, is to take a plastic carrier bag tie to chair/rodbag and put all your bits of rubbish in it, take it home or put into a bin on the way back to the car, if every idiot did the same, no problem, i've always done it where ever i fish, a club i once belong to had a motto ' leave only footprints of where you have been' .

IMO i think mikes (mrgs2000)siggy is a better one still

Now there's a man after my own heart.
One of my first things I do when I set up 'camp', is put a couple of big stones in to the blue carrier I always get from the tackle shop with my bait.
*ALL* rubbish goes in to the bag, then on to the next bin I pass when packing up.
Not just my own rubbish, but also any other bits that are found.
Seems to be quite 'clean' of tackle and line on Eastney beach as it's normally a rare find.
Although I did find quite a lot on my last trip out, thought I was losing my mind at first....
"Eh.. I don't remem dropping that.... never mind in the bin it goes!"
...
"WTF I'm sure I didn't drop that other bit that I binned, now more...."

But the main thing, it was clean (if not cleaner!) when I left.

As for the aforemention sig....
That should be Rule #1 of fishing imo.

Re: ammo help reduce rubbish

Well done Ammo, good to see a bait supplier being pro-active and trying to address a real problem that they in part (unwantedly) contribute to. I for one think all angling suppliers should be using bio degradable packaging to save on the problem anyway. I know its not always possible but I think that it is a lot more possible than is done at the moment and personaly would happily pay and extra 5/10% to cover the costs. Hopefully other companies will take up the idea and start offering incentives to good, honest and litter concsious anglers.

I think that a**eholes that leave a mess behind should get massive fines and their gear confiscated until their brain cell has divided enough times for them to comprehend what they are doing!! Its pure laziness and disrespect to their surroundings but untill things start getting tougher these people will continue to do it and ruin it for everyone else around them. Serve the f**kers with ASBO`s and dispersal orders that ban them from beaches/lakes ect for numerous months. How it would be policed I don`t know, thats the million dollar question really but I know something needs doing!!!! Thats why I take my hat of to ammo, its a start and thinking outside the box is just what this problem may need

Tight Lines

Joe
