Wychwood exorcist 12 foot carp rods

Does anyone know whether these would be any good for estuary fishing? Kind regards to all.

Re: Wychwood exorcist 12 foot carp rods

The problem I have had in the past with using carp rods in estuarys is getting the leads out of the mud. I find that carp rods dont have the backbone to pull a well stuck 3oz out, I ended up having to cut my line last time I tried. If the mud is not to deep you may be ok and also it may help to use a flat lead.

John you might try Googling them - I did and some comments I have read on Carp forums seem to indicate that they are not too highly rated!

Thanks Bill and Joe, you both make very valid points (as usual). The rods I was looking at were the 'exorcist' model with a 3.5lb test curve and rung for fixed spool reels. But the more I look at them, the more I suspect that the thin butt section doesn't let you get as good a grip as you would on the 'conventional' beachcaster with its larger diameter butt.

I reckon that's the best bit of advice I could have had. Cheers Bill, I need to keep me feet on the ground and not get sidetracked. Kind regards.

Wrap line 3 to 4 times round (covered) arm and pull steadily, got to be better than cutting at the reel, even if line breaks, the rod or reel won't..
My vote is for a carp rod.
You won't get much fight out of a flattie on a 15 foot beachcaster.... but if you put it in the pan it will still taste the same.
