rod

i have recently posted that i bought myself a multiplier and some one has just told me you need a multiplier rod to use it.....im still new too fishing so i was wondering if they were having me on or not?

the multiplier sits on top of the rod as opposed to fixed reels that hang underneath so you need more rings on the rod to keep mainline off the blank you can use a fixed spool on a multiplier rod but not the other way round

my mainline doesn't touch anything except the rings though or am i mistaken what you mean?

with the multiplier on the reel should be on top of the rod a fixed spool rod has 7 rings or les multiplier has more

You can use a fixed spool rod mate but its not ideal, as chaz says a multi rod has a lot more rings to guide the line and the rings are smaller too. If you use a F/S rod you run the rish of getting the line caught up on the rod midcast, especially if you try for the more powerfull casting styles.
