digging for worms with bait pump - advise please

Hi all,

To most of you probably a stupid question, but as being completely new to fishing, here goes :-)

When using a pump to dig for worms on the beach....where do you dig?

I have been looking through the forum here, but can;t seem to find an answer.

It says on the Internet that you pump about a foot away from the cast. OK but which way? towards the coast or towards the water??

I have caught some worms, but it takes me about 2 hours to find about 5 of the buggers lol.

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated

i mate, just to clear something up. You can only pump for Black lug with a pump. You can`t get common lug as there burrows are a different shape and that stops the pump working.

As for the method watch this and it should all be a little clearer

I've seen a similar video with a guy pumping blow lug. He places the pump at the blow hole a similar distance as shown on this vid, in line with the cast. pushes in at slight angle usually 4" and no more than 6" or so and they were coming out pretty easy as on here, 4" first pump no more than 6" second pump or third etc.

Hope this helps
