squid bait

how do other anglers use squid baits ?

do you remove head/ tentacles/ spline and use body ?
or just leave whole ?

Whole or half in a coctail with other baits when fishing for Cod and Rays , small strips for smaller stuff on scratching rigs , heads to tip off big worm baits on pennels for winter Cod.

Depends what I'm fishing for

Full squid pennel rigged for cod

Small strips for BlackBream

Small strips as a tip for worm baits.

As is out of the box ............the ink is really pungent ,waste of good scent ,especially if your using Dirty Squid from Ammo

I like the sandeel/squid wrap or mackie strip/squid wrap great for huss and dogs.
I do remove the head etc for this open it up wrap around the other bait fished on a pennel with a bit of fine elastic.

I think i,m right in saying Wayne that dirty squid is frozen as a whole ink, head, guts an all and the other stuff is cleaned and prepared like the white looking squid you see in the supermarket.
That's the basics i think, maybe someone knows a bit more detail.
I would go for dirty squid everytime more scent!

i take off tentacles stuff with mackerel and wrap them up in elastic ready to put on hook wen im ready like a wee parcel i just thread hook through elastic and sqiud i find it easier than threading and holding the bait then wrapping elastic specialy in rain or cold as it bloody greasy ,and it gives me somthing to do between bites i make 5 or 6,,for cod same as everyone else whole on a pennel i tip with a wragworm
