Import Tax!

Hi guys
I have bought plugs/lures etc from all parts of the world but never the USA, does anyone know if there is an import tax due on items purchased from here and at what amount does it start?
Got my eye on some lucky craft plugs which are much cheaper than the UK suppliers.

Im not 100% but i no when i bought my borther a rc car had to pay £12 import tax

if you ask them to post it as a present then you won't get taxed on it

Talk nicely to the seller,and if they mark the parcel as a gift , no vat or import tax is due

The Americans are not normally very helpful when it comes to trying to avoid paying duty,if you only buy small amounts you should be OK but this means the postage costs are high,but depending on the courier if you do get taxed they will charge you between£20-£30 admin costs on top of the tax lol,i buy a lot of tackle from abroad and to be honest the Japs are fantastic and if possible that's where i try 1st,i cant say to much without incriminating my self but have a look at shimreels on ebay the postage is a little high but they do a very good deal and there goods are very very high quality

i get my daiwa emcast 4500s from america as discontinued here never paid tax ,,did by a saxophone once and had to pay it but that was in the 2000 quid area http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DAIWA-ECS4...item1c1c8fe9a5 site i use i usualy get the blue ones for mates cracking reel use em for sea and carp lot cheaper than they were here ps clock the price of the braid on the site

I was in America last year. Went out with a suitcase weighing 4kg weighed 21kg on return. No questions were asked. I had fishing gear I.E rods reels rapalas and loads of clothes.

It's only different if you buy large items that are separate from luggage. There are ways round that tho.
