Angry anyone catching? at all?

been fishing a couple times the last two weeks and blanked on both times. its like theres nothing in the water except crabs, not a single bite. last year even when it was a bit quiet i normally still get a few pollock! ended up going to the casino for my entertainment when it started porring down. i think ill give the breakwater a break untill better reports starts comming in
is anyone in the south-west[devon] catching? i read that a 20lb cod was hooked in the bristol channel, but that seems to be the only report of a catch.

Re: anyone catching? at all?

There are a number of threads full of people like you at the moment.

Apart from crabs I can't seem to catch anything, even doggies. The only bonus is I normally fish in places with other people and they all blank as well so at least I know it isn't just me.

Roll on the summer fish because there 'aint no winter fish in these here waters

Re: anyone catching? at all?

Been out twice in the last two weeks - total catch between me and my mate - three codling and four whiting !

Whiting very small and codling just about a pound each - pretty crap but by the sounds of it not that bad a result.

At the end of the day its just great to get out and mellow out in the night away from work and stress.............

Talking Re: anyone catching? at all?

me and POPLO went down hope's nose last saturday and we got a couple of nice doogies each and i got a reasonable sized pout aswell.
i also kept on having my bait stripped off the hook when using ragworm on the shingle, but couldnt hook the damn thing!
also, just before we left, i had a monster bite that twitched the rod a few times before thumping and then it just pulled the rod tip straight down so the top half of the rod almost bent in half but i missed the bl**dy thing and i dont see how, it was pulling when i striked!!!!
still, at least it is proof of stuff being around, going down again this friday and possibly saturday aswell.

Cool Re: anyone catching? at all?

I fished at Weston Point during the day last week, just down from the yacht club and took 2 flounders, 10oz & 7 oz on rag and a 2 hook flapper with size 2 hooks. This was in the 3 hours up to high water.

Try 'fluffing' - trout are feeding great - bag limit every visit
