Boat fishing in dover, Cost?

I would like to go a boat, which goes deep in, an do fishing.
I have heard it costs around £60-70, is that true? its for me an my dad, if anyone could give me more info, would really appreciate it, i have found a couple places that do it, but no price lists.

Re: Boat fishing in dover, Cost?

Charter means to hire.
If you charter the boat it means you get the boat + skipper for the day. usually £350 ish for 8hr day.
Some skippers put thier own parties together and charge per head as Mick Coker does.
I have been fishing with Mick twice now and recommend it. he supplies all the gear and bait if you need it and he know the straights very well.
All the best.
Jason

Re: Boat fishing in dover, Cost?

I went last month and there were quite a few codling about. I never managed to catch one though!
The skipper said October is the best time for big bass out on the Varne ridge and the colder weather is better for the cod.
I should imagine you will catch no matter what time of year you go.
You need to talk to the skipper when you book and he will tell you exactly what you will be doing and what species you can hope to catch.

Check out the website for the Royal Charlotte: http://www.royalcharlotte.co.uk/

Mick will tell you everything you need to know.

All the best.

Jason

Try the Jolly Fisherman, its a stable modern boat and slightly cheaper than the others. Good skipper too. He knows where the fish are.

I hear that boat all the time, does he do individual bookings or is it charter parties only? I have tried to call him but keep thinking about it!
Cheers.

He will book out the boat for 12 people. If you don't have a group call him and he may be able to fit you into a group. The website is www.jollyfishermancharters.co.uk

Only problem witht the Folkstone boats is the length of time you get out fishing, being a tidal harbour they usually only do 5hr trips as apposed to 8rs you get at Dover and Ramsgate. Thats why they are cheaper i guess
