i'll agree that all the way , changed my j/h for an r/t this year, and regretted it.
r/t's cheaper but not so good imho, dunno what the newer j/h buddies with the detachable tops are like.

Re: Advice please for best beach shelter

I must express a rather belated thank you to all those who offered advice. All comments were greatly appreciated and helpful. I've still not made a final decision, but one of the things that I must take into account is of course the weight of the shelter. (Especially when it has to be carried to distant fishing spots). I have learnt that the weight of the Nerus and the Ron Thompson are 15 kilos each. Thats 36 lb!! No joke when I add the weight of all the other gear I take. Does anyone know what the Ian Golds shelter weighs? I have to say it looked quite impressive on MRG 2000's video at The Ranny. Kind regards to all.

Cant see the RT shelter being that heavy ...

The Ian Golds weighs 3.6 KG and rolled up fits easily on the outside of my rod carrier along with the tripod .

Re: Advice please for best beach shelter

Many thanks MRG 2000 and geejayy for your prompt replies. Whew, that's a relief! The weights I was given came from a very large, well known tackle supplier, seems they perhaps quoted in error. Well, that's a relief - when I was a young stallion I'd think nothing of carrying 25 odd kilos of gear for a mile or so, have a long fishing session and STILL have the energy for courting the girl next door. But nowadays, at my age, when I go out on the pull I have to take with me a young buck and a set of jump leads! As always, kind regards to all.
