Which reel/rod for feathering?

Hi
I've just started fishing and am after a budget tele rod/reel to get started. It will be for sea fishing only, feathering and spinning. I only want an 8-9' rod that will cast upto 50g using 15lb line. I really don't want anything heavier or fancier than I need -that will come later as I learn more and work out what I'm comfy with and what I want/need. The reel will be more long term though, so i'd like to get a decent make.
I've already done loads of research etc and shortlisted a ron thompson evo tele rod and either a shimano 4000 hyperloop or an okuma silvara pro 55. Does anyone know if these reels have stainless/shielded bearings. Also, an auto bale arm would be nice but don't know if this is only a feature of pricier reels! I also need 30-40lb shock leader, does anyone advise what colour is best for our coastal waters?
I would really appreciate some advice/feedback on the tackle above, as can't find much on the web at all.

Cheers for any help

rod wise there are loads.although longer a 2 1/2 lb carprod is good
the okuma reel may be better as bigger . 30lb line id use cheapest can find of any 30lb line but can get small spools amnesia

Cheers Pingu

Yes, the Okuma is bit bigger so probably better. I can't find any tele carp rods! I'll look out for the line, on-line

Re: Which reel/rod for feathering?

If your only using up to 50g Steve why dont you use a good 20lb mono straight through? the norm for leader is 10lb per ounce!

Re: Which reel/rod for feathering?

If your going to use spinners also i would stick to a clear mono leader and maybe even use a short length of fluorocarbon 2-3ft to attach the spinner.
I use both braid and mono for plugging/spinning depending on conditions and always have a short length of fluro to attach the lure.
