Daiwa Moonraker / refurb ?

Got myself my old Daiwa moonraker beach caster, i used to use it with a multipyler, but my question is what is it designed to be used with? I see beach caster are rigged for either fixed spool and/or multiplyer ( am i correct in thinking it is the position of the butt eye ?).

I have had this rod for over 20 years i think, it does need a refurb and i am thinking on this as i used to enjoy using it, i found it easy to use with a multiplyer as apposed to a stiiffer newer rod. But if i refurb it i will be replacing the duplon grips and was wondering if i can set it up for a multiplyer better.

Re: Daiwa Moonraker / refurb ?

If i remember corectly, the moonrakers were rung for multipliers , the only real diferance for fixed spoll is the first (and possibly the second ) rings are bigger in diameter . You could replace the duplons with shrink tube and have a moveable seat or coasters perhaps

Re: Daiwa Moonraker / refurb ?

There are more eyes on a multi rod too in order to keep the line flowing tight to the blank rather than flapping around it, how many eyes are there on your Moonraker?

Re: Daiwa Moonraker / refurb ?

Thanks for the replys guys.

It has 9 eyes in all, the butt eye is close to the blank and small, so i guess it is as said a multiplyer rod. One other eason i want to refurb it is to get rid of the PINK whipping around the eyes , could be a girlie rod hey LOL
