| Best Rods Available for the Money! Opinions? Opinions lets start a thread on this Subject Greys Grx-s I believe is the best rod for your money at present. At around 70 quid i think its a steal, Nice bite detection considering its semi stiff, great power delivery for all types of casting, Nice finish and Fuji rings, Great for all ground types. Fixed spool and multi options. Lifetime waranty! Little practice gets you 150 yards great finish and great price. |

| Re: Best Rods Available for the Money! Opinions? sounds interesting .. not sure im comfortable with a rod under a ton which is odd because there are plenty more expensive ones that just aint worth the money .. It can be a minefield and as it happens im in the market for 2 13ft -13'6 multi beach rods and am unsure what to get .. Daiwa supercast ? stick to my TDPK's ? keep the 13 ft sandstorms ? second hand zippies ?? buggerd if i can make a decision ![]() __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting |

| Re: Best Rods Available for the Money! Opinions? Zziplex everytime for me ,although very pricey @ £400+ per rod new,but a lot of used bargains out there in the £200 -250 range, but with such a range , worth having a try of the model you fancy first, as a lot of zippys are like broom handles and way beyond bending unless you can pendulum very well..... __________________ Mike.. | Re: Best Rods Available for the Money! Opinions? I love my Century's, expensive yes, but they do take the abuse! Saying that I have a Greys bass rod that I love using in close (most of the time in fact). Realistically the fish can't see what the hell your using, so as long as it works for you, and you can afford it why worry, most of the mid market rods are pretty well built for what they cost, and if it puts them in reach of youngsters starting out then great.... Ooh I shudder at the 11' solid glass rod I started with! But what the hell do I know Steve ![]() |

| Re: Best Rods Available for the Money! Opinions? Anyfish Anywhere 6 plus bait is a very good model about £120 to £130 I think. Again its what best suits your needs and wallet. The best rod in the world wont put any more fish on the bank if you cant get the best out of it! Yeah its a bloody minefield alright! __________________ Species so far for 2012 Pike,Chub,Roach,Ruffe,Mackeral,Plaice, LSD,Pout |

| Re: Best Rods Available for the Money! Opinions? I reciently bought a rovex big boss rod, 13ft, 5-7oz, 2 piece. ive been after a half decient multi rod for a while and after doing some research and chatting to a few tackle shops i decided this was the rod for me. rrp is around the £100 mark but after a little haggling i managed to knock that down a bit because i said if i liked it id buy another at the end of the month. the rod is built on a sonik sk3 blank so you know your getting a good rod for the money. im not going to pretend im a casting guru or anything but the rod is really nice to cast with, itl whack a lead a good distance but still has a very good bite detection, it dosnt leave your soft baits spread all over the beach either which is always a good thing!! lol. ive always used my reel in the high possition until i got my hands on this rod, a little experimenting and i now have the reel permanantly in the low possition. the only thing that i dont like about the rod is the reel seat, no matter how tight you screw down on the reel it moves, to combat this i cut a strip off of a jelly eel and put that under the reel seat but at a later stage i will get some coasters. ive already had some sucsess with my new rod, a 6lb bass (pb) from hayling, a 11lb smut from selsy and a 8lb 10oz smut again from hayling just two nights ago.... not too shabby as i only bought it at the end of april. well anyways hope my ramblings have helped someone.... oh yeah i couldnt resist it .... i now have a matching pair. the name rovex isnt well known but trust me for the £ they are very nice rods and i have it on good authority much better than most of the rods costing double what the rods rrp is. | Re: Best Rods Available for the Money! Opinions? I own one of their spinning rods, £30 from veals (they rate them highly) and an absolute bargain, light but robust and well made. I believe that the Rovex rods are made in the same factory as the Sonics and I was told they use the same blanks but how true that is I dont know. __________________ Species so far for 2012 Pike,Chub,Roach,Ruffe,Mackeral,Plaice, LSD,Pout |

| Re: Best Rods Available for the Money! Opinions? I hope they are designed a little better than the older model who's butt section was, in my opinion, too big in diameter. As for the distances that these companies quote, well lets say they arent very realistic in a fishing situation! Yeah for sure hand it over to Neil Mackellow and see what he can do with it over grass and he 'd probably send a lead 200yds with out breaking into a sweat but give it to the average guy on the beach with a trace and bait attached and see what happens then! __________________ Species so far for 2012 Pike,Chub,Roach,Ruffe,Mackeral,Plaice, LSD,Pout |

| Re: Best Rods Available for the Money! Opinions? funny you should say that Nick.. I left my Sandstorms at home last night and took the TDPKS down the quay and it felt odd that they weigh less than the baited trace and only have a 1" butt diameter or summit bizzare like that ...on the other side i was scared to give them some welly as the larger diameter butts on the sandies mean i ge ta much better grip . i guess if you have big hands it makes a difference.. On discussion with Jaycee last night , and looking at both of his Supercasts i was slighty put off by the shoddy rings on them and by the fact hes had problems with a ring on each one ! The AFAW rods were slated for crappy rings and im not sure if they ever got round to addressing this so as far as i'm concerned its still an open book .. Will a Zippy add you 30,40..50 yards ? i'd like to field test loads but with different multipliers too .. Im not all for distance but i like to have it there in reserve if i need it __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting |
