Pulley clips - good, bad or undecided Is anyone else finding that their pulley clips (sorry can't remember the make but they have a lot of yellow on the packaging) are causing umpteen tangles? The good old swivel & beads I never have any problem with, but these things are starting to do my head in. The hook length keeps slipping into the clip & wrapping round the fastlink on the end of the shock leader so the weight hardly ever comes up to the top when bringing a fish in. Am thinking if I ever start using them over rough ground I'm increasing my chances of snagging & losing a fish. Any views from my auspicious colleagues out there? __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:>

Re: Pulley clips - good, bad or undecided that's the kiddies. have tried a swivel between my fastlink & the clip, doesn't seem to stop them tangling. __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:>

Re: Pulley clips - good, bad or undecided i use them...find theyre great. i used to find with swivells that the rig body would kink, with proper pulleys it doesn't...and when your useing heavy mono for your rigs - 60lb then the rig bodies will last a couple of sessions too with just the hooklength being renewed if needed... always try and make your hooklength a couple of inches too short so they only release off the bait clips on impact. john __________________ 2012 targets - 180 yard measured cast, 10lb bull huss, 12lb blonde, 10lb hound, 8lb small eyed, spotted ray any size

| Re: Pulley clips - good, bad or undecided I use them too as I find the don't kink the line and (Although this might just be in my head) I think they reduce line twist in the rig, stopping the snood wrap around the rig body so readily. I do find that they tangle more easily though, because of the double gemini clip used to attach to the leader. I've been looking at figuring out some sort of sleeve to sit over the clip and stop the line getting in. No joy so far though, but I definately think they are an improvement and worth spending some time on. __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. Check. Reels. Check. Speckled Hen. Check. | Re: Pulley clips - good, bad or undecided they work for me everytime - wouldnt make a pulley without them .. you could go back to swivel and bead .... and a long wooden pole for a rod tangling on retrieve happens because of the speed of retrieve - ive never yet hooked a fish and not had the rig work like its supposed to but have brought it in tho change bait to find it snagged round the link .. lenght of rig, snood thickness, main body thickness all come into play .. __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting |

Re: Pulley clips - good, bad or undecided Cheers folks - they weren't tangling as bad today as at the weekend... Had plenty of opportunity today as NO fish. __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:>
