Re: Century Kompressor WR300

Probably wrong but arent they more a casting rod rather than a fishing rod ? Suppose it depends on what the rod will be used for and casting ability , i get back in me box now

Re: Century Kompressor WR300

Really good rough ground rod, in fast tides and big fish...

the WR300 is named because it was the first rod to break the 300meter World record...you need to really know what you are doing with casting technique to get any use out of it.

i had a Kompressor S Sport....and that was stiff enough!!!! let alone the SS which is like a washing line pole......

unless you can really put a bend in a rod, then your fishing and casting might go backwards....

not knowing your ability or ground you fish its very hard to recomend...myself i fish some rough ground, can cast pendulem (about 170) and i'd run a mile from it

there's some really good rods for fishing that will cast well and handle rough and big fish...zziplex M4 AFAW tournament

another consideration is how often will you use the rod on the lunar landscape its designed for....if its not that often i'd be inclined to be under gunned for a couple of sessions a year rather than buy a rod for these sessions and find yourself massivly overgunned for the majority of your fishing.

Re: Century Kompressor WR300

just re-read your other post about the primo and that you fish north devon and chesil

i personally wouldn't go for a WR300 unless you are confident that you'll be able to cast it.

north devon is just the other side to myself and MRG2000...I use a M4 hi flex,,,mike uses M4's...you'll need to also consider with fast tides, if the rod is too stiff it will break the lead out of the bottom sending it tripping down tide into snags.

M4's are perfect for this and will handle chesil no problem...send MRG2000 a PM he has a lovely condition one on ebay at the moment with a diamite tip eye...sure he'd give you a figure including postage to take off ebay and still send.

Everyone I suppose to their own opinion, but I actually own one of these rods and fish with it on a regular basis and imho only! it is a very good all round fishing rod...obviously casts well, good bite detection, very good for surfy, rocky, sandy mixed beaches.
The only problem that I have with it is, it is quite a Heavy rod to carry and use but apart from that a super rod,

Thanks for your comments, Lighty. I don`t know how one of these would be for general fishing. As you can see from other comments, I have been slightly put off buying one! Most of my fishing is done on the south coast, from Dungie through to Chesil, and some Bristol Channel marks.
I would also be doing some casting over grass during the summer.

Re: Century Kompressor WR300

Glad to help m8, I know it can be confusing but when you hear folks making comments that ..its a beast, it did me shoulder in, I've been off work for a week etc etc, you know the comments that I mean, I wonder If I have the same rod..lol.

You fish Chesil, Dungy etc, excellent rod for those places, didn't hear anyone tell me that my WR was a bit over the top for Dungy??

At the end of the day, its all down to opinion, and what works for you. If you get negative comments then I am sure they are quite genuine in their reply, there are some rods that I dislike completely and others love, its the way it is!

Re: Century Kompressor WR300

Hi Lightly.

Do you cast the rod butt down pendulum?

I have never even seen a WR300 let alone cast one, but the reason I ask is I do have and Anyfish Anywhere 14ft match and I found it a hand full until I learned to cast down the butt. It totally changed the whole handling and feel of the rod.

Re: Century Kompressor WR300

I do cast with the reel down for most types of fishing, but if I was to go congering then the reel would be up, but it would not make any difference to me casting wise.
Like anything you buy, best to see it before you commit yourself, but if you found the AFAW a bit too much, then you certainly would the WR.
