tinkering with tackle again

i've spent the day giving an old reel a much needed overhaul, its pretty much on its last legs but i thought i'd try to give it another brief lease of life.
this ones been with me for years and years,
those who know me know i'm loath to throw anything away
it was my 1st multiplier that i inherrited from dad when he upgraded to a daiwa millionaire 6hm, & i spent hours wandering up and down the local feilds learning to cast it when not actually fishing with it.
to be honest i'd butchered this one , but slightly less than the 6hm when i inherited that as well which has now gone to that tackle grave yard in the sky.

so first was dismantle & attack it with paint stripper to remove all the green paint that i thought might make it look better about 15 years ago, then strip grease & reasemble.



they don't make them like this anymore, 3 springs to return the free spool button, if only new abu's were like this.
clean out all the gunk splash a bit of grease about, change the blocks for some better small fibre ones,
oil the bushes,
then rip out the botched ct conversion that i inflicted upon it in an attempt to reach further afield. after the level wind failed.

i know the side plates are battered and its all seen better days , its dated technology but its been a loyal little thing, just needs some tlc, a new frame bar, ceramic bareings,

better end plates uprated geartrain



mag conversion ok maybee thats going a bit to far, but i'll be looking for a conversion bar and a restrainer washer for the handle nut

They certainly don`t make em like that anymore , a quick respray ,CT bar and your good for a good few years yet ..
