Line

What line do you use and why ? What breaking strain is your choice ? Will be good to see your responses my choice used to be red ice but that was a few years ago and things do tend to change

Re: Line

I have always used 15lb yellow Diawa tournament (£10 a spool roughly) with 60lb Greased Weasel Leader. Line strength depends on what ground your fishing over, i fish mainly clean ground so 15lb is plenty thick enough and don`t give the tide to much to get hold of. I used Red Ice on my 7000 for heavy/mixed ground with 20lb breaking strain but it dont get that much use.

Ultima F1 in 15lb lb titanium on the 7ht's and Ultima F1 18lb black on the slosh's

also about 10 squid a spool ...

used red ice for a couple of seasons , liked the price and strength but not so much its brittleness .

Re: Line

18 lb Daiwa Sensor with 60lb Sakuma Sensor leader.. for shore work ,18lb Sensor with 50lb leader for uptiding off the boat .

Used Red Ice for a while off the beach ,and found it a bit tempremental, easy to kink .

Re: Line

Thanks for the replies , When i was fishing before i was in east anglia where the beaches are pretty clean but here in devon its a bit different so am trying to figure out what line would be best , seems red ice has its problems as most lines do but i need something to use on rough ground using a multiplier The daiwa brand has popped up a couple of times so may be worth a go

We fish alot of rough ground marks in S.Wales , Daiwa sensor is definatly one of the better lines for abrasion resistance ,its not the thinest line available ,but the quality takes some beating .

Re: Line

Sounds like its worth a go then mate , what kind of breaking strain would you be using on the rough ground marks ? Do you use the tapered leaders ?

18 lb ,with a 60lb plain mono leader .Use rotton bottom on the very rough marks ,but straight thro on the mixed stuff ,as you can pull the leads out of the weed, otherwise you loose far too many leads.

Were fishing this type of ground without rotton bottoms

On the real rock marks ,rotton bottoms are a must, you might loose a lead but usually get the fish

Re: Line

I have tried a few lines now and have decided that ultima sea strike is as good as I need it to be. Its £4 a spool. I use 15lb, 60lb, 30lb. I use the 60lb for rig bodies and leaders. I use the 30lb straight through for rough ground and as snoods and a leader for the reel on my bass rod which I use 30lb braid and I use the 15lb with a 60lb shockleader for casting.
Good luck finding the right line!
All the best.
Jason
