Getting started

Coming back in to the hobby after a long break , Have bought 2 greys apollos mk2 and one penn 525 mag may have another mag at the end of the week , Really looking forward to getting back on the beach but still have a lot of stuff to get yet so have a look in your sheds guys pm me if you have anything that may be of interest , Also would be interested to find other anglers in Devon as its always nice to fish in company and most of my angling was done on the east anglia coast so dont really know where the better spots are to try

Re: Getting started

Hi Andy.

How do you find the Apollo's? I find them great for the rocks but way to stiff for beach work.
They make great Conger and Wrasse rods.

Re: Getting started

To be honest i find them a little stiff too , not fished with them yet but took one down the beach for a bit of casting practice and they do seem to cast well but i
suppose that would depend on casting style , i cast either pendulum or back cast so put that together with being 6ft 6 and built like a shed a stiffer rod works pretty well

Didnt read your post properly mate
Yes probably a bit stiff for general beach fishing but they were cheap and came as a pair and i do like my rods in pairs , no doubt at some stage during the year they will be replaced with rods with a little softer tip , not sure what yet used to have conoflex lionhearts (long story) and really liked them , no doubt one i get going im bound to see a rod being used on the beach that i like the look of
