Re: spinning and lure fishing for bass on the swale

Hi mate, i know you can get bass on lures down at kingsferry bridge but it`s better around the summer and autum months, there are also some other good fishing marks all along the swale, have you ever been round the back of kemsley mill where the white cranes are, there are some HUGE mullet there as well as bass, flounder and eels. There is a deep spot there where people spin for bass. Also further round the swale you can fish at Elmley ferry, there is a muscle bank that stretches out into the middle of the swale that you can fish at all states of the tide, dunno if it`s anygood for spinning but i have had plenty of bass on lug/rag/crab their.

Re: spinning and lure fishing for bass on the swale

To get to the muscle bed at elmley ferry go onto google maps and put in CHURCH ROAD TONGE. When you get the map you will see the road dissapears. There is still a road there that runs along side the lake on the map taking you to the banks of the swale and the muscle bed is directly in front of the road, it`s a really bumpy private road but you can drive up there if you take it slow. To get round behind the mill you need to scroll up on that map and to the left and find Barge way. Again the road isn`t shown as its another private road but if you grab the little yellow man on the map zoom (the map will turn blue) and drop him on the last blue round about you can get a google earth view at that roundabout. Pan the camera right and behind the blue 4x4 is a road with a gate on it, that road will lead you to the cranes behind the mil, they don`t mind you going down there as long as you don`t make it a mess and leave rubbish everywhere. On weekdays the gate is usually open but if not you can just hop the little fence and walk around it. , oh and you can google earth the view at church road as well, the road continues down and bears to the right towards the swale. Does this help??

Regards

Joe

p.s the pic i have as my profile pic is at the mill, you can see the cranes behind me

Re: spinning and lure fishing for bass on the swale

Not a problem mate, you new to the area or new to fishing round sittingbourne?? I grew up round there so have done a lot of fishing in the swale. If you fish at kingsferry again i would suggest fishing to the left hand side of the old bridge as the right is snaggy as hell, there is also a floating pontoon you can fish off of into deep water at Quenborough

If you do go let me know what ya think or i may even meet you down there sometime

Joe

Re: spinning and lure fishing for bass on the swale

new to sea fishing i have been in sittingbourne bout 3 yrs started fishing last year fished a couple of times in russia spinning is big there so came home from my second trip and bought spinning gear with some floats for good measure and started down your neck of the wood at yalding small river tributie to the lees started swim feeding bit of ledgering and someone donated a quiver tip had a pike lots perch couple of bream but it is a big day out. dont like fishing the the lakes and everything apart from the sea is members only with waiting lists or massive joining fees so im pretty much set for bass so found kingsferry and went for ago (was out tues, thurs, sat and this morning) would be gr8 to get some experinced guidance to sea fishing even if spinning is not your thing up for a meeting. you are wright about snaggy but i have found the left quite bad

Re: spinning and lure fishing for bass on the swale

Spinning is best kept for when there are bait fish in the water as this is what you are trying to immitate !
Shoals of sandeels and sprats encourage the mackerel which in turn bring predators like bass and pollack into the mix..
fish are rarer thsn rckong horse shit at the minute so any attempt to catch them should be with big juicy natural baits mate ..
