Re: bite alarms think you would find it next to impossible mate . plus they would not last 5 mins in all the salt . if you can not see your bites you can buy a clip on bell for the end of your rods

Re: bite alarms I wouldn`t bother mate, everytime a wave crashed down on your line they would go off. Even the swell of the water would trigger them i recon. __________________ Sea 2012- 5brd rockling, whiting, LS Dogfish,Bass,Eel,Flounder F/W 2012- Catfish(16.5lb), Carp,Tench LITTER IS JUST LAZINESS!!

Re: bite alarms its called a rod tip... to the extreem of being too blunt. you need to keep the rod tip up in seafishing so you need to keep an eye on your rod for the knocks from small fish. you don't normally get a run off small fish...and if you set up with bait alarms the current would normally be enough to take line of a baitrunner giving a false bite!!only time you would need to disengage the drag would be after rays or smoothhound and then you engage the ratchet/clicker on the reel which will give an audible scream when you have a fish so back to original tried and tested method...keep an eye on your rod tips...and get some reflective tape for night time.... john __________________ 2012 targets - 180 yard measured cast, 10lb bull huss, 12lb blonde, 10lb hound, 8lb small eyed, spotted ray any size

Re: bite alarms A friend of mine has successfully used Optonic type indicators for late night bass sessions on the chesil. The rods are placed on the tripod as normal and the optonics are placed in front of the tripod mounted on long "storm sticks" and the line placed into the alarm as per normal application. The reels are fished "baitrunner" style but the line is kept tensioned so as not to flap around causing constant beeping. Unlike carp fishing you do not have hangers/swingers or monkey climbers to move around in the wind and as a result the number of false beeps are minimal. My friend isnt a lazy angler, he just employs this method if he knows he's gonna struggle to stay awake when the sun goes down. __________________ Species so far for 2012 Pike,Chub,Roach,Ruffe,Mackeral,Plaice, LSD,Pout

Re: bite alarms Yeah or "try a bell" but if that doesnt wake you up at 3AM and you have some optonics try them instead! __________________ Species so far for 2012 Pike,Chub,Roach,Ruffe,Mackeral,Plaice, LSD,Pout
