Re: new rod

they've certainly got a bit of poke to them.

i picked one up the other week. I'm used to my zippy 4500 which has a lovely bend in the tip so maybe i'm exagerating the stiffness.

it does cast really well as mrg2000 will say too but you do need to be able to get a bend in the rod. Bitewise it picked up codling knocks from 100yards out.

for rays, smoothounds etc...its just the hammer...and for any rough ground it will do you a treat.

Re: new rod

Try it down the butt pendulum. It was the only way I was able to compress my Anyfish Anywhere Match. Just waiting to pick up my Century Tip Tornado Super Match

Re: new rod

Its one hell of a rod !..... needs a reasonable pendulum to compress it i would think ,having said that even a basic off the ground or overhead thump will easily get you 100yds +, and the bite detection is pretty sensitive ,even with small fish ...

Re: new rod

im just gonna start with overhead thump and work on to the pendulum,i normally use my reels in the down low position and a fishing pendulum cast with my other rods,
but im gonna take my time with this one as its my first century and i want to get used to it.,i nearly brought ttsm from ukhooks but it didnt come with a bag or reducer ,so i went else where

Re: new rod

if your going to progress to the pendulum try casting off the ground with the lead coming back towards you from the rod tip.

Re: new rod

century kompressor sport, nice pokey rod..but well usable.....nothing to be scared of just slow things down , will be ideal for the solent and selseys smutts and weed , all carbon so a slimmish diameter .....

at 13ft 10 inches you may like to try the reel around a foot up from the butt cap without the reducer and see how it goes , concentrate on a smooth casts and practice ....

a zzippy 45 has a glass tip so is a different beast altogther , although possibly one of the finest "fishing"rods around
