BC. Any point? Not heard of much coming out of the channel of late and was wondering if there is any point in venturing out until the Spring. Any advice/thoughts? __________________ 2012: None Lifetime: Codling, Grey Gurnard, Mackerel, Pollock, Pouting, Wrasse, Scad.

Re: BC. Any point? Was thinking from the shore. Have now had 5 consequitive blanks from around Severn Beach/Aust. Wondering if I should be moving a bit further West. Portishead/Clevedon maybe? __________________ 2012: None Lifetime: Codling, Grey Gurnard, Mackerel, Pollock, Pouting, Wrasse, Scad.

Re: BC. Any point? I would say moving further west will be an advantage, maybe even porlock as well as those you mention __________________ 20 years of marine biology can't be wrong but apparently it is

Re: BC. Any point? Thanks KKK, Only trouble is, living in Stroud that's quite a trek given how fuel is these days. That's the advantage of Severn Beach. But then if you aint catching anything... __________________ 2012: None Lifetime: Codling, Grey Gurnard, Mackerel, Pollock, Pouting, Wrasse, Scad.

Re: BC. Any point? see what your on about. what normally happenened and certainly did this year...and i can only say for the welsh side. The cod came in around cardiff first september time they hang around and then shoot up the top reaches of the channel sudbrook, beachley, i presume severn beach and stay around up there. the first real hard weather we have with frosts etc all the brown prawn, crabs and other natural food leaves the beaches as its too cold for them over low water and vanishes into to deeper water so the cod move back down the channel...to cardiff barry and further west. john __________________ 2012 targets - 180 yard measured cast, 10lb bull huss, 12lb blonde, 10lb hound, 8lb small eyed, spotted ray any size

Re: BC. Any point? John, That would make sense. We had three decent codling off Severn Beach at the start of Oct but have blanked 5 times since. Do you think this current spell of much milder weather would encourage anything back? __________________ 2012: None Lifetime: Codling, Grey Gurnard, Mackerel, Pollock, Pouting, Wrasse, Scad.

Re: BC. Any point? i know the guys up near the bridge are struggling this side. it may be worth a trip to penarth pier or the likes on this side of the chanel...might be a bit further but is motorway all the way so maybe quicker. i know there catching lots of small codling and whiting of the pier and front at penarth to scratching rigs. john __________________ 2012 targets - 180 yard measured cast, 10lb bull huss, 12lb blonde, 10lb hound, 8lb small eyed, spotted ray any size
