| Re: Gibraltar Thanks BW I have looked on line and I am planning to have a day out on a boat. I have booked a place right by the marina and harbour so was hoping for some info on that species I can have ago at early morning and at the end of each day. I am sure that there will be Mullet, Bream and Bass there. I just want to take the right gear Darrell |

| Re: Gibraltar Hi Darrell. I used to fish Gib all the time when I was in the Royal Navy, I also recently lived in Spain, so hopefully I can help you a bit. At this time of year you will have Bass, Mullet and Bream as you had already expected. However this time of year the Bass are around in good numbers. You can also get a run of Trevally that can be caught on small plugs from the rocks. They are really powerful and great fun to catch. The Spanish call them Lecha. It might also be possible to catch Dolphin or Mai-mai on lures, but to be honest you are more likely to get them from the boat. You can catch Conger and Grouper all year round from the rock marks, which is most of the Island. Standard heavy rock gear is needed. If you do go after the Bass and Bream the best baits are worm that is similar to our Ragworm but smaller they are called Coreano. You can also buy Americana and Titus worms that are a bit like Lug worm. You can often buy the worms from vending machines in most marinas or from a tackle shop. You normally need to use fluorocarbon for your rigs as the clear waters make it easy for the fish to become spooked. | Re: Gibraltar Hi Portland Pirate Thanks you so much for the info. It is very helpful. I was born in Gibraltar but left when I was three months old so have no memory of Gib what so ever. I am going there to celebrate my birthday which is at the end of the month and I have one other day booked. I have been told that a week on Gib will be too long as it is such a small place so it sounds like I have plenty of time for fishing . I have to get the boss to agree though.![]() Thanks again Darrell |
