bonus points in the species hunt!!!

How about getting a bonus point in the species hunt if the fish is a new forum record???

yea i like the idea nthis would encourage use of the forum records lists

but thinking leftfeild as i often do ;-

say if i catch a forum record um........ruffe, @ 4oz on saturday afternoon but can't post a claim till monday what happens if someone else has caught a
31/2 ozer on sunday and had the points awarded sundy night?
if you catch a string of fish, each breaking the record can you claim multiple points?

i s'pose in short, is the claim valid from time of capture or time of claim.

just thinking of details , or perhaps being just plain pedantic

I would imagine if you break the record several times then you deserve the points or atleast deserve to share the location Gord :P

I also think the awards should be as follows -

capture 1 point
photo 1/2 point
any species hunt fish winning fish of the month 2 points

not that im likely to benefit

How about combining both ideas plus a tiny extra one ....


All would be seamless to integrate into the tried and tested system ,and certainly spice up proceedings ,while still being 100% fair ,and even if the fish of the month and year winners arent in the species hunt it would not be a problem ,as it wouldnt effect the standings ...


FISH OF THE MONTH BONUS...........2 bonus points for the fish of the month winner ,as this would be a random bonus decided by the members ,so potentially any team could benefit ,and if they consistantly catch outstanding fish ,benefit even more .

FORUM RECORD .......... If the forum record is broken a bonus of 3 points to the team concerned .Should the record fall twice in close sucession ,3 points for each team as they will have held the record even if only for a short time ...timeline to be taken on trust ,as your only cheating yourself by not stating the correct time ,and i really dont think anyone on here would do so anyway.

FISH OF THE YEAR BONUS .......... 4 bonus points for the winner of the fish of the year ,from the 12 monthly winners ....again independantly voted for by forum members

but as can only add fish once to species hunt can only score once , so multiple records on 1 species cant work surely

Yes that would make sense for it be a 1 a year bonus (per species)per team for a record


To be fair,would it be worth doing a poll to see if all concerned would be happy or in favour of the changes ???

yes,
I think it has to be - fish of the month - voted for by all on forum - 2 points
forum record - 3 points - obviously 1 claim per species as you would accrue the potential 2 points with the capture plus photo .
only another team catching same species AND beating record would then accrue a further 3 bonus points to go with the 2 normal points ..

A new forum record by the same team could always still win the fish of the month vote again but could only be awarded 2 bonus points - nothing for species and nothing for record ..

As long as we can keep it simple for Dave and all play ball i think it could be rather exciting !
