Re: christmas thoughts

christmas is commercial, weve known that for many a year, but it still should not stop us remembering the ones we loved, and those that were not near there loved ones

Re: christmas thoughts

Dover Squidy is so right that this is a period when we should reflect upon and remember those who have passed away. Last year, a few weeks before Christmas I lost my mother at 96..so a good age and the death was expected but a loss no less. This year on Dec 15th my only brother, Barry (68) was brutally murdered in his apartment in Iquitos, Peru, where he worked as a travel writer, writing about the Amazon and its people, whom he loved. Stripped, gagged and suffocated with his own socks shoved down his throat...all for a lap-top, digital camera, his money and British passport. Materialism and what you HAVE has surpassed who you ARE and how you behave to others...sadly. My brother and I were born and grew up in Deal so on Monday I shall go back to Walmer, for a little reflection and down to the beach near the Castle to see if my brother's spirit can help me catch that 17.5lb cod that was merely a figment of DS's Christmas dream!!! Anyone free???

Re: christmas thoughts

DS, As you know I am a professional flute-player (The Lion King) and breathing is part of my job. I have had a chest infection since the beginning of October which has only just subsided. Nothing would shift it. Playing was so tiring. I know many folks who have had this too, including several colleagues in West End shows. It is a VERY nasty virus which will not respond to anti-biotics. Good luck. Will report on fishing if I go...and if Dean has some decent worms!!!
