| Lman's review of 2010 My year started way back in Jan with a break in the cold weather enough time for my local club water to thaw a trip to crockerton provided a little ray of summer sport with a nice little Tench along with a mixed bag of Roach, Perch and Bream As Feb came round it was time for Chew Valley again and the search for that thirty pound Pike to commence. I only managed 2 tickets this year the other for a boat later in the year so I had to make the most of my visits this year sadly it wasn’t to be this time I did manage to avoid the blank and maintain a healthy record at Chew 1 blank out of about a dozen trips. Spring and early summer were quiet months for me on the fishing front cricket taking up a lot of my time. I got out on my club waters for a few mixed bags of fish and a few better carp. I had to cancel my early trip to Todber. Managed to visit the beach at Branscombe whilst spending weekends at our caravan nothing much to report apart from a few makkies on feathers. I also missed the Cat meet this year the wife’s birthday smack bang in the middle but i will defo be attending in 2011. I did manage 24hrs on the Paddock in August and at 4:30 on a damp Sunday morning I managed one of my targets for the year my first Cat on a Rudd live bait not a huge Cat at just over 18lb but it was a double. Much the same for the rest of the year not got out as much as I would have liked work getting in the way, had a few frustrating sessions after Grass Carp on my club water late Sept early October 25lb+ fish inches from my bait but not taking .............maybe next year. So it was finally here the 7th Nov the trip I had been waiting for booked back in Jan my first boat after Pike on Chew and the search for that elusive thirty was on again, and as I sit and write this I still can’t believe I have done it that elusive 30lb pike all 34lbs of her, was truly a magical moment on Chew a great Day. I now look forward to next year trips and perhaps we can get Dave the 20 he’s after. Not bad for the only take of the day. That’s it so far this year not been out since then with the extreme weather but fingers crossed will get out over Xmas. It certainly was a great session to finish on I managed to pick up a few prizes Fox specimen award, Drennan cup award and a Korum angler of the month runner up spot. Total prize fund £370 allowed me to tell the wife fishing does pay Lol So here's looking forward to next year and new targets ......................... more bigger fish! |
