Pingus personal review of 2010
Well again it seems time for reviews on TV again so as ever here’s my effort

2010 has definitely been a tough year for me, and also for my partner in crime Rich
We have had some success, but it all seems a bit hard work
Whether it was the winter cold snap or what who knows


And to make matters worse the flounder seemed elusive in the early part of year
The pikeing in the early months was tough as well as the canal stayed frozen for ages, I did manage a few better sessions after the thaw but one memorable trip with rich saw this come to the bank


We went up for another vain attempt at the zander on the Gloucester canal. But with good friends and seeing a good fish who cares and as ever it’s always a laugh


So we concentrated in the early months on the north coast and found some coddling instead (this is my fave shot of the year, the colours are all natural)



Found some new venues but still tough fishing

A late shout saw me on the IOW at Easter and I had a great weekend bagging my first ever turbot


Far too many trips out hunting Smoothound, bass, mullet and Small eyed in the summer

Summer saw us fishing either Branscombe for the hounds, far too blanking many trips the River Otter (I am beginning to hate mullet ha-ha) or good old Charmouth for the bass and ray

With the last venue giving me probably my best ever session (maybe a tie with Burnham 2 yr ago) and definitely my fish of the year (for me anyway)



The Smoothound meet at Selseywas a great social as ever and somehow I managed to win it with this pup



Although some of the people you meet look right shifty around those parts ha-ha



There have been a few days on ponds and rivers, but although gaining species points nothing really special
But always nice to be out, catching is always a bonus


Come the autumn it was the Isle of Wight again
A great social with the club but unfortunately the fish just didn’t want to know us, but I have a feeling I’ll be back, the beaches are the dog’s danglies


Also in the autumn a long awaited trip to Chew with Lee and although I blanked I don’t think I will ever forget the day


Unfortunately the family life of both Rich and myself ( mrs p now working again ) is becoming some what of a hindrance and seems we rarely get time off togethere to fish together at the moment, but we are still trying when we can ( and often failing), trying new marks and every now and then success


Next year we must sort something better

Scarily I have been on a boat twice in a year (its just wrong I tell you ha-ha)


But am tempted again next year,mm maybe,mmm lets see

So all in all a slow fishing year (not for lack of effort though).

But again lots of great memories, of all the great people that I’ve either met or fished with, whether from the Forum, or the club.And as ever a great thanks to Rich , putting up with more stupid plans and whopping my ass at pool when rain stopped play

It has put me in mind of doing one aswell. I will wait until i am confined to the house due to frozen lakes!!

Smashing report Dave. When you do look back it can be surprising as to how much you accomplished, and what a varied year you have had. Hope 2011 is just as good, if not better..

Thanks for yours and Rich's reports over the year. Always great to read.

They really sums up what all anglers go through, I think. The rare great day. Some good days. Some rubbish days and some down-right terrible days!
