New methods about fishing .. How?

Sometimes, I go to the sea, I found some philippines guys practising fishing, I tried to do similar to them but many difficulties facing me ..

When I launch the hook, it goes back quickly to me due to the wind!

So, Iam asking about any unfamiliar way to do fishing instead of the rod and the hook .. or any technology to fish from beach .. new ideas ..

but I want to know and learn new fishing technique ..

I think the hook and line is a classical and not feasible way ...

Regarding the fishing in Red Sea, Jeddah , Iam a biginner in the fishing world ..

but many fishers using thier boats and go inside the sea, practising fishing by the net .. they get good quantity of small and middle fishes ..

some little number of the hobbyists do fishing on the beach , like me ..

most of them are philippines nationalty .. they take around 4 hours to extract a few fishes ..

If this aint a windup WELLY I'll eat my rod bag.!!!!

However if its not then you can do as my grandad did years ago and is still practiced to this I think...

At low water (thats when the tide is out) also recognised by the lack of water, you can peg out some baited hooks onto the sand,when the water returns (high tide, presents of water) the fish will eat the bait and get trapped on the hook.
When the tide goes out again....bobs your mothers uncle...plenty of fish!!!!

Failing this you could always start Knitting some warm bobble hats for the real fishermen.

I actually tried this method many moons ago on goodrington beach.
the next I went down to find......nothing!!
Whether a huge fish dragged all the gear out or somebody beat me too it.
I never tried it again.

Interesting thought though isnt it.
This method was practiced for years by my grandad at Burnam On sea with really good results.
Might be worth another go on a spring tide.

My brother's father in law used to use this method in the 60's in Minis Bay in Kent. He says he used up to 70 hooks at a time leave them overnight and was guarnteed a catch. Sometimes he says he had up to 30 fish on in the morning when he returned. It used to be deadly for sole he remembers.

He moved away for many years but retuned to retire in the 90's. He hasn't tried it since but he beach fishes all around the area and catches nothing like as much as he used to do or the variety of species.

There's always the ancient scots method of 'tickling' but don't see how this would work at Jeddah unless it's heaving with fish. 'Nutting' I'm afraid only works with salmon when they leap and the only gear you need is a crash helmet............

is tickleing where you run your hand along the side of the bank and when you find a fish to tickle its belly and then lift it out the water?
i had thoughts of doing this but what would you do if a big pike thought your finger was a worm?!
