Actually I wonder if it will now enable me hold my lager can without freezing my fingers off out there in the process. I now know what fishing gloves were really intended for :-)

The freezing abuse of William James Coppin 's (aka Moi !) drinking fingers is now officially over.

On another similar note I noticed that Decathalon had some very cheap but sturdy looking reels in over at Thurrock lakeside recently. Does anyone have any views on the kit there? I recognised a couple of brands and the kit looked good value for money but I am not that in the know to know about it.

I need to pick up a couple of heavy duty spinning/fixed spool reels for the new season (and hopefully new boat! :-) ) I know I should use a multiplier at sea but when I tried fishing before years ago I just got totally pipped off with stock in trade multiplier pasta mess I used to get.

Anyway any info on what would constitute a decent fixed spool and if the decathalon ones are any good would be appreciated.
