Re: keeping warm Good thread Paul. Today was absoultely freezing! With ice floating down the river, the odd blizzard and icey wind that would have cut you in two; i almost stayed warm! Tactics were: Feet : Thermal socks, Welly boot socks. Legs : Long Johns, tracksuit bottoms and camo trousers. Upper Body : Thermal top, 3x Tshirts (2 Long sleeve, 1 short), Jumper and Waxed coat.# Head : Russian hat! Hands : Charcoal handwarmers. That's about it, oh and don't forget the 347 cups of tea ![]() Justin __________________ Blackwater Tackle Supplies Keep Ulster's Waters Healthy, Practice Catch and Release!

Re: keeping warm Im well kitted out for heat for tomorrow. Centra beside my house has these extra long thermal heat socks, bought a pair tonight, they are AWESOME! About an inch thick, outside is like a fleecy material and inside is like a wooly/fleecy material and they go right up to your knee! So i'll have them on with a pair of thin thermal socks underneath along with my sundridge hot foot fisher boots! Moving on up... i'll have a pair of tracksuit bottoms on (tucked into the long socks) as well as water and wind proof camo trousers. Up again... t-shirt, wooly fleece and water/wind proof camo jacket that goes right down to my ass, it features a massssssssssive hood that will sit nicely over my insulated russian trapper hat! Got a cracking pair of thinsulate gloves 2nite in tesco for a fiver! Hopefully im not tooooo warm tomorrow lol. Justin i notice u say 'charcoal handwarmers'. Wat are they like? I bought 2 packs of that type of thing 2nite for a quid each, read the instructions, it says just to shack the bag and it heats up and last up to 8 hours!?!? Sounds brilliant!

Re: keeping warm They arent like that type, they go into a case and you light them with matches or a lighter. Sorry i forgot to get back to you the other day after your PM. We fished Portna today on the Lower Bann as apposed to Upper. Caught a few perch, roach and a pike (8lbs1oz) __________________ Blackwater Tackle Supplies Keep Ulster's Waters Healthy, Practice Catch and Release!

Re: keeping warm I was out this afternoon for a few hours 'till dark on the river - I always assume worst case as you can always take something off, so, 2 T shirts, tech thermal long sleeve fleece (actually from Next about 10 years old but brill) standard fishing zip fleece, old quilted Dickies jacket (without sleeves so you don't bulk up like the Michelin Man), my trusty Chub jacket & trousers. But, most importantly you need to keep the extremities warm - Thinsulate fingerless gloves, Thinsulate hat, Skeetex thermal boots (a bugger to walk in but very warm). You walk more than 50 yards in this lot though and you sweat like a pig. Landing net went solid just before dark - but I didn't feel a thing ![]() ![]() 1 Pike about 6lb - worth going just to be there ;-) Glorious Steve __________________ E' Pest
