road trip Bass fishing

Hi All,

i know i havnt been on this forum long etc but hey thought i would throw it out there, im from essex and am planning to go down to North Cornwall some time in dec/ early jan to try and score some big bass iv been hearing about down there, mostly be beach and rock float/spinning fishing. would be leaving early hours fri morning to get down there fri 9am ish. 3 days fishing and leave on the sunday or monday morning. would be camping it down there with electric hook up. just wondering if anyone would be intrested?

Steve you are probally better off waiting untill late summer next year , the bass fishing will be much better then , you will still get the odd bass but very few and far between in the winter , i know thats how my local marks fish , but hey i could be wrong

cheers for the advice mate, i went to porthtowan about 2 years ago in late Nov and was reeling them in! maybe its changed :0(

winter time is a great period to target bass.......cornwall especially

give it a go , it may not come off.........but then again it just might, here on the iow if you know your marks, and dont rely on ONE place bass are a year round fish......sure numbers get less at times, but given reasonable conditions even jan and feb can and do fish well .......

interesting that experienced bass anglers favour the back end of the year and the others see them as a summer fish ......

The surf beaches around Newquay have been known to produce some good fish at the back end of the year ......The gannel estuary is worth a try as it opens out to the sea .....Good luck

Give it a bash mate , ive fished down there a bit and given the choice between Essex and Cornwall i would go down for the weekend fish or no fish
not sure the spinning and float fishing will be any cop , as Drew says the fish are there but it just requires a lot of know how and a bit of cunning PLUS the right baits .. Im gonna be down that way on the 17th but can't see me targetting anything other than the mahoosive wrasse
