Its probably mostly bi-catch going back into the sea there, horse mackeral and the like, its a shame I know, but look at it another way its going back into the food chain at least, all number of species will be prospering out of that, I still can't condone it, but until they find a better way of putting fish on our tables and the government authorities seeing the light, It will happen again & again. My first thought's are, of all the starving people in the world and thats happening...its wrong.

Not according to most sources. They were mostly immature but within MLS(!) coalies and codling.

Apparently the skipper got a call from a mate who had filled his boots with more marketable sized fish.

I agree, looked like packed fish from the hold - all regular sized and boxed .. bloody pollack and coalies plus codling ..quite a few flatties spewing out too..
Oh , hang on i dont want these now - i'll just do another tow and get the bigger ones

I hope the F*****R sank on his way home ..

I crew on small commercial boats occasionally,if my skipper told me to chuck insize fish that we had quota for over the side i would refuse!!!! Its bad enough being forced to throw back over quota fish by law but to throw legal fish back because they arent as big as you would like is bang out of order!!!! I believe this is known as "high grading" and i thought it wasnt allowed.
