Dock Fishing......

If the weather is acceptable I and my nephew are going to fish the local dock on Saturday...

This is a first time for both of us and I hope it's fruitful!!!!

I have bought a few 2 hook pater nosta ready made kits and lead off ebay and am planning to bait the hooks with garden worms and cheese - do sea fish like cheese???

As I have a pint of mixed colour maggots in the fridge I plan to use them as sweeteners and may even throw out some fresh water ground bait in pva bags as a trial!!!

Cant do any harm to try can it???

If the fish goes ahead and we actually catch something I will post the pix here!!!

p.s: I have to say that I would prefer to catch nothing rather than an Eel!!! Hate them!!!

Re: Dock Fishing......

My very first fish out of the brine was an Eel
It was a monster about 18 inches long and slimy as hell, I could not get the bloody thing off the hook. After about 15 mins I was gonna cut the line. Luckily a bloke fishing down from me saw I was struggling and came up and got it off with a t-bar type thingy :)
I hope thats the only one I ever catch!
Good luck!

Wink Re: Dock Fishing......

cheese and earthworms ???
go to tesco , they do a fine range in things you might find in the sea ... i know its a bit leftfield but what about a mackerel

groundbait should work as long as you have around 400kg of it

Re: Dock Fishing......

I will get some lug worm instead of earth worms and I'll eat the cheese!!!!

Morrison's is next to the dock so I may trot over to it and buy some shrimps!!!

Actually my first fish was a bloody Eel caught on a 6 foot bamboo rod kit with 12 feet of line, a crappy float and a hook!!! (£2.99 all in)

It was bloody exhilarating!!!!!!!!!!

But the bugger did as most Eels tend to do - and swallowed the hook deep down!!!

It was about 18 inches long and wouldn't at all behave so the line had to be cut because the hook length was beyond retrieval!!!

Eel's are the planets scum fish ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know anyone who likes them!!!!!!!!!

Pain in the !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Incidently - I have never and shall never eat a fish of any kind!!!!!!!!

I was on holiday in San Diego and my host took me to a sushi outlet....

I spewed up after one bite............

Talking about slimy fish - I have all ways fancied hooking a Conger Eel!!!!!!!!!!!!

But in the real world should I ever land a decent sized specimen Conger then you'll see Ardon running in the opposite direction at top knots!!!!!!!!!!

Scary fish them bloody Congers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like an Eel on steroids!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Geoff Capes crossed with the slimy PM Cameron with no sense of doing anything of any use but plp off!!

Re: Dock Fishing......

Try to drop straight down the dock wall (if it's a suitable dock) as thats where the fish will feed
