Shockleader difference in diameter What shockleaders do people recommend. I have noticed some huge differences in diameters in line that is supposed to be the same. For example 0.70mm (60lb) powerstorm and ultima powerflex are no where near the same. The later is far wider and makes massive knots which will surely not aid casting at all.

Re: Shockleader difference in diameter If you're fishing clean ground, then I can't recommend tapered leaders enough. Not only is the knot small enough to have no effect on the rings, giving you quite a bit more distance, but you won't have to worry about keeping it to one side on the reel to stop it slicing you thumb. Obviously, if you're fishing rough ground you don't want to lose a quids worth of leader every cast but otherwise it worth a look. Veals tapered leaders are worth a look. __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. Check. Reels. Check. Speckled Hen. Check. Bait…… BAIT! Sh*t, where’s the bait?

Re: Shockleader difference in diameter What you lose in diameter in a tough parallel leader is compensated for with 'abrasion resistance'. I agree with tapered leaders which are essential for 'mangle grinders'. ![]() Sorry, no respect there! ![]()

The only mishaps we have is when a guy uses his own F/S outfit and the large leader knot catches in an angle in the inevitable Fuji BNHG rings. Tapered leader allows a 5 x smaller Grinner to Grinner (or similar) which rarely catches on the ring. |

Re: Shockleader difference in diameter see you are useing an up to date F/S there Gremlin thought Multi rods had smaller rings than F/S anyawy other than that the one thing i look for on shockleader is wether it ties a tight knot, brought some greased weasel once and gould never get it to knot up tight, maybe just had a duff spool as know some loveit ![]() dave __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives

Re: Shockleader difference in diameter the biggest problem doesnt come from the ring size nor the type of reel used but simply from the fact that most people can't tie a knot smaller than a caterpillar ! __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting
