| Equipment question , Mackerel Fishing from Seaford beach Hello everyone.. I have done a fair bit of sea fishing in Oz and NZ, and a little bit here in the UK too. I am wanting to go and see if I can hit the end of the Mackerel run , I am planning on going to Seaford Beach , nothing to extreme, I just want to take my girlfriend and go and catch some Mackerel on feathers. I do not have any kit at present , so want to buy something cheap and cheerful for this weekend.. I have come across this online http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Keenets-Macker...949b44fff6ef7f and I am wondering if it is worth the £26.49 (£19.99 + 6.50 pp) I do not know anything about Keenets rods or reels etc, asI have noty heard of them before.. so I am wondering if anyone knows what this is set up is like, and if it is worth the £26? bearing in mind I do not want a useless set up, but also we are on a budget, and will only use this once or twice this year.. your views would be appreciated- or any recommendations for alternatives would also be great.. I could be tempted to spend another £10-£15 for everything (rod reel tackle) and I have seen a two piece shakespere rod beachcaster 10ft and it was £14.99 plus 4.95 delivery, I thknk this is going to be a better rod, but I would also need a suitable reel, and tackle (feathers) also anyine one been to Seaford recently? and know if the Mackerel have buggered off yet? |

| Re: Equipment question , Mackerel Fishing from Seaford beach hi m8, it looks like that rod may be suitable for a couple of days a year bare in mind that it is a buget set up and you only get what you pay for, i'm not familiar with the makes of rod & reel and suspect build quallity and longevity to be compramised aat that price. however if its cheap kit you want for just a few days cast about it should do, i'd be very wary of useing leads up to 6 oz though and stick under 4oz to lessen the strain on a cheap rod , 4oz should be all you need to throw out a set of feathers anyway. personally if beach fishing i'd be looking at rods nearer 12 -13ft but a 10 footer is no problem unless you plan on casting vast distances. just my tuppenceworth, geejayyy __________________ beer so many venues, so little time. |
