| Advice for Ogmor, Wales Hello chaps, Just a quick request to see if anyone knows anything about fishing Ogmor near Bridgend ? Wandered if anyone can tell me about the fishing areas - rocks etc. or pier - and what the tides are like for fishing ? If anyone knows what area do I need to check for tides ? Thanks for any help. | Re: Advice for Ogmor, Wales Think it is a rock area into some deep water but never fished it. |

| Re: Advice for Ogmor, Wales Hello Tommy, Just let me know when your going to fish the Ogmore "Deeps" or the surrounding coastline and I'll only be too glad to notify you of the tide times. The Deeps used to be a favourite mark of mine years ago but i don't frequent the venue as often as i should. Long renowned as a Cod/Conger mark i fear the venue has suffered over the years but there again what venue hasn't. I've heard reports of good size Whiting being taken along with the obligatory doggies and Pouting, the odd Cod has also been taken. If you have any further questions I'd be happy if i could offer any advice. Best regards, Denzle __________________ Never answer the phone when your doing the ironing. |

| Denzil / Pross, Eventually made it there last night and fished for about 3 hours. Had numerous bites in the first hour about an hour before HT but unfortunately missed them all - my mate had decent bites but no success - one of them poxy nights. Tried various hook sizes from 1 upto 4s but no luck. Still it seems to be a decent place to fish even if its the first time seeing it at night. Ledges appear to be pretty safe and we did have a decent time. Dissappointed not to pick up any whiting though as thats what I was really targeting - will give it another go before then of the month I think. We stopped in the car park opposite just past Southdown heading towards Ogmore On The Sea and wandered down from there onto the ledges - was that the right place mate ? | Re: Advice for Ogmor, Wales Tommy, Sounds like you got it right,if its the rough car park where the pay to stay machine is and then the mile long hike down to the rocks, thats the deeps. Sounds like you had an enjoyable if not frustrating evening fishing, well personally I'm off down to fish the long arm down in Port Talbot steel works (Corus) in the morning (H.T. 12.12PM).I'll post a full report tomorrow evening. all the best Denzle __________________ Never answer the phone when your doing the ironing. |

| Re: Advice for Ogmor, Wales Just back after a 6 hour session off the long arm, what a disaster, the only bite i had all day was out of my corned beef sandwich. At least 8 anglers fishing in close proximity not a sniff between the lot of us, as per usual a fella fishing opposite me said he'd caught a conger and loads of whiting the day before!!!!! How many times have i heard that lol. The only good thing was it was a lovely day and i didn't lose much gear. __________________ Never answer the phone when your doing the ironing. |

| Re: Advice for Ogmor, Wales Having fished there last Saturday with a friend we managed 2 pollack between us, mine was just under 1lb and his was much smaller We caught them using Bass rods and floats. There were 2 other guys in the same platform as us, they were starting to take the whatsit out of us when I caught that pollack. And that was in the daytime with the deeps very calm.It is a venu that fishes better at night when the sea is starting to calm down down. There have been some big whiting coming off there last year. In my opinion it is also worth taking some floats down there in the summer as you could quite easily pick up a bass or three. I caught a 6 1/4lb'er 1 hour before low tide, at night to a float fished section of sandeel, that was no longer than 1 1/2" long. The fish was over 2' long. My float had a chemical light taped to it and I was half asleep. Yep they do exist! __________________ Windows-User: Doesn't know why it doesn't work. DOS-User: Knows why it doesn't work. | Well done mate ....I must get into this float fishing thing for Bass, but in the upper reaches where I usually fish I don't hold out much hope..the tides rip through There are some Mullet grounds a little further up and schoolies are caught there as well, maybe try float ledgering? |
