| What gear/bait Im going to weymouth on monday with the family and will be taking my beach rod to try a little bit of peir fishing whilst there. Im targeting anything I can get but preferably Mackerel, The question is what size hook and what bait is best for it. Im Going to be using 15lb mono as my mainline what breaking strain hooklength would you recommend? Any help will be appreciated!!! Also would you recommend float or Quivertip tactics and if its float what sort of depth am I looking at as a base level to start around? |

| Re: What gear/bait Ryan, go over to Weymouth angling and get half a pound of rag and fish it under a float set at about 4 foot or so .. size 2 hooks and you should get mackerel and pollack from the stone peir plus pout and wrasse on the bottom ( still on rag ) 15lb is fine for snoods Steve __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting |

| Re: What gear/bait With the hook set up do I need 1 or more hooks on the line. Im thinking of setting 2 hooks about a foot or 2 apart would that be a suitable arrangment and also can I use course fishing weights or would I need to get myself some separate weights for float fishing off a pier. Also would a pike float be suitable for the task of float. Where in weymouth is the angling store? Sorry to keep asking questions!!! |

2 hooks will work but might encourage tangles.. Pike floats are fine as are coarse leads.. Steve __________________ Shore Species 2012: Dab-Flounder-Herring-L.S.Dogfish-Pouting-Shore Rockling-5 Bearded Rockling-Small Eyed Ray-Turbot-Whiting |
