| Any Idea what was going on Just walked from Bracklesham bay to West Wittering along the beach at low tide. Checking out the area for a future fish trip. I could have done with my camera cos I saw about 50 seagulls on the sand so I went to have a look. Over about 500m parallel with the sea and 500m from the sea there were about 20 dog fish up to 2lb not been there very long as they were still a bit floppy when I turned them over, hardly touched by the gulls. Also about 15 what I think were cod which had been partly filleted they had just the prime fillet removed from both sides, about 3-4 inches of the tail was left as well as the head and in some cases the guts. The fish would have been about 4lbs each. There were also some spider crab shells and legs about 10 in total as well as a lobster that was still blue and had a bit of life in it, I say lobster but it had very small claws but it was about 9 inches long. Very tempted to take it home but not sure of its history so I left it. And to cap it all there was a ray with half the tail missing this was still flexible so It cannot have been there long. No I had not inhaled any strange weed or anything but there were two very small local fishing boats moored up quite close in and there is also a fish sellers hut that was closed up on the beach. Very puzzling and a great waste of sea creatures. Any ideas what was going on? __________________ The road of excess leads to the palace of wisdom. | Re: Any Idea what was going on i think its quite obviuos whats gone on there, but i remember a thread only a few days ago about theses netsmen coming in close and just scooping up anything in there path......but we were told they had to make a living  ....or was it a few thoughtless anglers !!!!!!who knows..  __________________ obsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated .. species hunt team winner 2005 and 2006..with old smoothy.. |

| Re: Any Idea what was going on Trawlers for sure. If people could see how much in total they dump overboard each trip I'm sure there would be a lot of complaints about it. Interesting about the cod though.
