| Project Research - Please read Hi guys, I often browse this forum as a non-member looking for fishing reports to try and find out the best places to go in my local area. Although i find some good fishing reports, sometimes its difficult trying to find recent ones. So, I have been considering undertaking a little project where users could submit their own fishing reports good or bad to a central place and have them accessible for anyone to read. That way everyone will hopefully be able to find some great places to fish. But first I have a few questions: 1. Would you find a service like this useful and would you see yourself using it to find good fishing spots. 2. Would you be happy to share fishing spots that you find useful and disclose the setup you used and what species you caught. 3. If you were to use the service what kind of data would you like to see on each fishing report. For example, location, weather, time, tide, season, setup, bait etc. Hopefully you can spare a few minutes just to answer these questions and if there's enough interest I might take up the project to put something like this together. To start I would do this for UK only and limit it to sea fishing. If the project is a success then I would look at extending it to fresh water. Thanks |

| Re: Project Research - Please read ![]() Lots of folk browse the catch reports and never join up let alone contribute. We ALL want recent reports and someone else to do the donkey work but it doesnt happen ! A central place ?? ![]() Are you saying you will have a sole website/forum and all the anglers on all the forums will report in and post catch reports, swap marks, divulge rigs and baits ?? Good luck fella , i wish you well with that . Steve __________________ Shore Species 2012: Bugger All !! |

| Re: Project Research - Please read Hi Benji, There is already a place to post catch reports (good or bad), get advice, write reviews of marks, reviews of tackle, there are even species hunt and fish of the month competitions for the members. You just posted on it. The problem with forums, is that they're only as good as the people that post on them. Fortunately, this one has lots of friendly anglers, willing to give lots of good advice and post detailed catch reports. If everyone only browsed the forum and never put anything back, it'd be rubbish. Thank god it's not. __________________ Right then, checklist: Rods. Check. Reels. Check. Speckled Hen. Check. | Re: Project Research - Please read I understand that the forums are already a great source of reports but they are also a great source for many other topics involving fishing and I'm not trying to detract from that. What I want to do is simplify searching for catch reports and have a system where by the reports can form up catch data. In that way you could create reports that showed people on a map where the best place was to fish for certain types of fishing or certain species. Or where which baits where most effective. Users would be able to search a location and instantly have every report submitted. Rather than having to always be on the forums at the right moment to read reports before they become old and move off the first page of a forum. |

not only that but just because someone had a top catch at a venue doesnt mean average Joe is gonna do the same. I have mates i fish with and most 'catch' info stays within this circle for a very good reason..We spend hours a week and a fortune on bait and gear to catch fish..we aint about to then broadcast to the nation where they should all be heading ...litter,vandalism,nets,bait beds dug out, access suddenly denied..i could go on ... sadly your idea will require the assistance of the more experienced anglers who fish week in week out and i have a feeling the reports aint gonna be that forthcoming ![]() How about mapping out where all the hot chicks are ? now im deffo up for that __________________ Shore Species 2012: Bugger All !! |

| Re: Project Research - Please read Thanks for all your feedback guys. It seems as if a lot of people wouldn't be willing to give away information of where is good to catch fish. Although I think it would help a vast amount of people it seems as if the guys that really put in the work don't want to give their secrets away. |
