Talking Best days fishing?

What has been your best fishing session ever?

I have a couple that rank in my favourites, they would be:

My first trip to Cobbleacre Lakes. We were told we couldn't fish it because you had to be 15 and we were 14, so it all seemed to start badly. But a bit of persuasion and we were allowed to fish Amy's Lake, one of the match lakes there.
We were fishing a waggler using maggots for bait, we seemed to get a fish every cast, and ended up having around 150 fish during the day including, roach, perch(really good fighters in there) rudd, chub, ide and some lovely ornimental carp.

Another good session was a recent one last November. We were piking on the broads and after around 6 blank sessions for pike we ended up catching 4, 2 jacks and 2 that went 15lb+ , new pb's for me and my mate.

So what have your best sesssions been? Should be quite interesting...

Re: Best days fishing?

It pains me to say it now but ive had 3 or 4 days when ive caught between 9 and 10 stone of Cod.
I wouldnt dream of keeping that much now,not that i m likely to catch that much now,i seem to be going soft putting most fish back, cant really have a moan about stocks if i m keeping more fish than necessary can i.

Re: Best days fishing?

Probably a couple of years ago on my local pier.....ended up with over 7 smuts landed and lost about the same...great nights fishing...fished following night same again but not as many! When we get em down the pier..we get em! only for a week or two but we do get a good run all depends on how long the spider crabs peel for under the pier and around the beaches!

second best day would probably be up shoreham river and landing 4 thick lip mullet one of which was a pb of 6lb 8! rest were all around the 3lb mark...but still good fish.

Ollie.

Re: Best days fishing?

Trying to think but i rekon when me and my dad found a virgin wreck, fished it and there was a huge amount of fish there.

Best fish was a 24lb ling along with several smaller ones, and loads of pollack.

Re: Best days fishing?

had a day many years ago,i had been pike fishing all day without so much as a sniff,i moved in to join a mate in his swim for the last hour of the day to have a beer and a chat,i only chucked a couple of baits out as an after thought,he had blanked so i didn't expect much.
to cut a long story short,30 minutes later i had caught a 29 and a 24,thats the sort of day you never forget.

Hi Paul,

We've got a few wrecks around here - but not many virgins

Or was yours a plane or a train?

Re: Best days fishing?

The one that springs to mind was my first session when I was about 11 years old, me and some friends went to our local beach (Blackhall Colliery) with a couple of rods, knackered old boat multipliers, spark plugs (my dad went mad) for weights and a few hooks between us. No fancy rigs or shockleaders etc. We spent ages collecting crabs from the rocks and then built a fire and fished for hours, catching absolutely nothing. But it was my best days fishing with friends who I grew up with. By the way, we got better after that

Rob
