novice caster needing advice

Hi all,
its an honour to be a part of the site and hope to get needy advice.(when needed, off you fishaholicks.)
The problem i am having is that when I am casting, and through loads of practice i cant seem to cast further than the time before.
I am using an abu 7 and a 13 foot beechcaster with a 5 oz lead.
There seems to be little fellas casting twice my distance, I am a (not to blow my trumpet) a big strong lad, but when i put everything into the cast it is to no avail, i know that power may have nothing to do with it but technique is the key.
could anyone give me any pointers or advice which would be much appreciated.

Thanks Ian.

Re: novice caster needing advice

Welcome Max
There are a number of factors that determine casting distance - technique/equipment and to a lesser extent physical stature.
If you are desperate to improve your casting ability then all I can suggest is find a professional instructor - it will prove the quickest and most effective way to proceed! There are a number of How to Cast instructional videos on the market, but I really do think that you'll find it cheaper in the long run to get some tuition from a casting coach, after all if you can't pick up tips on how to improve by watching guys casting on the beach, then you probably won't do any better watching a video will you?Not only that but you don't want to lug your telly down to the beach do you?
